What surprised you or what did you like about nerve blocks?
I started noticing when we had blocks, our single incision appys were much more likely to go home from PACU than when they did not have blocks.
How did you become a believer in the routine use of regional anesthesia?
By seeing how patients had less pain and could go home earlier
Do you have any advice for pediatric anesthesiologists trying to convince other surgeons of the benefits of pediatric regional techniques?
Push the blocks. Surgeons will not want them unless you sell it, and show that they are quick and lead to less pain and higher satisfaction. Also show less intra-op narcotic use.
